Please Welcome: Tori from Lil' Mrs. Tori

Hi Everyone! I am Tori from Lil’ Mrs. Tori and I am so excited to be guest posting here with the amazing ladies of Eighteen25! They have been such an inspiration to me for so long. I can’t believe I have the awesome opportunity to celebrate September Spooktacular with them!

I wanted something to dress up my fireplace this year. I love pennant banners but I wanted to add something a little extra. That’s when I came up with the idea of a countdown to Halloween banner.

Here is what you need to create this project:
  • ½ Yard of black fabric and ½ yard of orange fabric
  • Orange and black thread/ sewing machine
  • 2 packages of black bias tape double fold
  • Orange felt
  • Number template
  • Pennant template
  • 1 medium clothespin
  • Lime Green acrylic paint
  • Felt stickers (I used Creatology Owl Felt Stickers)
  • Glue gun
First, print out the pennant template and start cutting out your pennants. I folded my fabric in half so I was cutting two pennants at once. If you do it that way you will only need to cut out 16 orange pennants and 15 black. Place right sides facing each other and sew. Flip them out and iron. Then stitch around the pennant in contrasting thread.

Print off the numbers template and begin to cut out your numbers with the orange felt. This is a great activity while catching up on your shows!! It can take a little while! Once your numbers are done lay them all out on your pennants. I hot glued the numbers on.

Next is the fun part. This is actually 3 separate banners. You will want to measure your own mantle to make sure it fits where you would like it. Once you have measured your mantle pin your pennants into the fold of your bias tape. Then sew closed.

To make the countdown marker I painted a clothespin with lime green acrylic paint and added a cute owl felt sticker.

Hang up on your mantle and enjoy!! Thanks ladies for inviting me to post! I hope you all can stop by Lil’ Mrs. Tori and say hello!
