Behind the Blog

Let us introduce to you... this month's

Today we are super excited because we are
getting to know one of our local blogger friends...

Kiki from

What's the most interesting job you've had?
Subway Sandwich Artist. I lasted for 1 month and didn't eat there again for 12 years.

If you could live in a cartoon, which one would it be?
I hope this isn't too crazy... Phineas and Ferb. My kids are obsessed... and I LOVE how creative and fun they are. I'd either like to be part of the gang, or I could handle being their mother... they would certainly make summer vacation interesting.

What was the first concert you went to?
The Beach Boys when I was in 3rd grade. I've always loved their music and still play it in hopes that my kids will always love it too.

As a child what did you want to be when you grew up?
Growing up I had a lot of dreams. I wanted to be an artist of some kind, I wanted to marry a doctor or a lawyer, and I wanted to have kids. Apparently dreams come true... I have the best 4 (almost 5) kids around and enjoy being their mother everyday, my husband supports all of our crazy dreams as an attorney (though he didn't know what he wanted to do when we got married), and I get to dabble here and there as an artist. I really am a proponent of having dreams and goals and revamping them, trying new things, failing, succeeding and doing it all from the time you are little!

What is your favorite kind of pie?
Hands down, Lemon Meringue. It is ALWAYS best served really cold... for breakfast!

If you could have unlimited storage of one thing, what would it be?
Time with my husband! He is one busy man and I try to eat up every second I get with him.

Would you rather live in Disneyland or Sea World?
Neither. I know, I know... mother of the year here... I couldn't handle the fishy smell at Sea World, nor the craziness that ensues at Disneyland. I COULD handle living every. single. day. at the beach.

If you could choose one super power, what would it be?
Right this very minute, I would choose a power that would turn Las Vegas 65 degrees during the summer (I am 5 weeks shy of having baby #5 and in need of some cool weather!), but if I had to choose one for all time, it would be teleportation. I could do without the crazy airplane rides, the weekly grocery shopping excursions... and I could easily use that power to take my family to all of the amazing places we dream of going.

Did you have a nickname in high school?
One coach in high school nicknamed me "Pokey". I ran track for 3 years, but was NEVER the fastest person around. I knew this, but did it to keep in shape for my other two seasons of sports that I did love... volleyball and basketball. I was also known as "Socks" from other teams as I wore a crazy pair of knee high socks to every volleyball and basketball game in high school.

Apple juice or orange juice?
I like both, but I prefer a big glass of water filled with Sonic ice (that is a must to have in my freezer at all times).

Window or aisle seat on an airplane?
It depends if I'm with or without my kids. Without my kids, the window... who doesn't love seeing the world from a different perspective! With my kids... DEFINITELY the aisle... I have to keep them contained!

Are you a hugger?
Yes! I'm a hugger. My whole family are huggers, which made for a really awkward meeting of my husband (who wasn't a hugger) and my Dad when they met the first time! But I can also respect boundaries, so if a good handshake is preferred, I oblige.  :)

What's your favorite thing to do on a Sunday afternoon?
Nap. Bake. and watch AFV reruns with my family... (pretty exciting stuff around here!)

Tell us 3 random things about yourself...
1. I am a vegetarian, but I don't like telling people. When I told my husband while we were dating, he made me promise that I would still cook meat for him when we got married. I do, but even now I only serve meat dishes 2-3 times a week... and he prefers it that way!
2. I am NOT organized. I have been working on this slowly in my 12 years of being married, but it is one thing I wish I was really good at.
3. I love happy, real, know-who-you-are kind of people. I smell fake a million miles away and always try to be that real person I like to be around.

We just love Kiki and hope you enjoyed getting to know a little more about her as much as we did!!
