just off the bookshelf

it has been way too long since we've had a just off the bookshelf post!! i've found some time to read here lately and have enjoyed some pretty great books.

by Betty Smith

I had no clue this was a classic until I was completely finished with it. It's definitely a 5 star book. It's actually a pretty easy read... one of those where you'll fall in love with the characters from the very start. As crazy as this sounds, sometimes I think life would be better with a lot less money. The Nolan family is quite poor, but they seem to make the best out of everything. If you are looking for a good book to read, this is the top one I'd recommend out of these 3.

From the Trade Paperback edition
by Jonathan Odell

I grabbed this book off the end cap at Target, not knowing anything about it. I ended up really enjoying it. I haven't read much historical fiction based during the slavery era, but I've now found another subject that I'd like to read more on. This book is a solid 4.5 stars for me.

by Jamie Ford

So many of you recommended this book in the comments of the last book review post. I listened... and I agree. It's a good one! Another 4.5 star book. My interest in the Japanese American internment camps is just getting started.

My latest purchases from amazon...

So excited to read them all!!
